Accurate Box Revolutionizes E-commerce From the Inside Out

Mark Schlossman, executive vp of Accurate Box Company, discusses the positive impact colorful corrugated packaging has on consumers in the June edition of BXP Magazine. Read the full article below.

Accurate Box's Packaging on Display

OPEN AND SAY, “AHHHH.”

Accurate Box revolutionizes e-commerce from the inside out.

E-COMMERCE offers consumers speed, convenience, immediate gratification, great deals — and a big letdown. For all its revolutionary hype, when you get your package, it arrives in a plain plastic bag, or a corrugated box, lined with nothing but boredom.

Until Accurate Box exploded everyone’s expectations. Now brand owners, from the largest CPGs to ambitious start-ups, can line their e-commerce boxes with a wealth of colorful branding. That means photos, logos, colors, graphic, and even QR codes that drive offers, provide exciting content and drive consumers to the brand’s website. In other words, Accurate is turning a bland experience into a “wow” experience.

AND SUSTAINABLE TO BOOT

In the past, one inhibiting factor to beautiful packaging for e-commerce purchases was the fear that such fancy printing would cause consumers to think the package wasn’t sustainable. “Not so,” says Samara Ronkowitz, Accurate’s director of sales and marketing.

“Sustainability is a huge part of our story,” Ronkowitz adds. “We are a one-stop-shop. No outside vendors means we don’t have to ship products to other states, so our carbon footprint is smaller than competitors. We print, corrugate, die-cut and glue all under one roof. This also means better speed-to-market.”

Accurate ships 1 million boxes a day all over the U.S. Every box is 100% recyclable. Nearly 70% of all materials used are recycled. Accurate Box has a chain of custody for its boxes that includes SFI and FSC certification.

Better yet, Accurate’s boxes can be printed on the inside, outside or on both sides of the box depending on what the customer wants. Most e-commerce boxes are printed via Litho on the inside, so the outward display (a plain brown box) is less tempting to porch thieves.

GIVING STARTUPS A COMPETITIVE EDGE

According to Mark Schlossman, vice president of sales and marketing, “Accurate Box has been a valuable new partner to startup companies that want to market their products,” he says. “We helped one startup create sophisticated graphics that showed a bunch of their different products. After a few months, they called us saying that they saw a bump in sales as a result of using our box.

“We’ve had customers that started with a first order of 5,000 boxes, and over time, grew to ordering over 1 million boxes a year. It’s been fun for us to work with startups. We feel that we’ve helped them grow,” says Schlossman. “This is all a result of the branding and printing we bring to the table. Ultimately, it helps consumers feel better about their purchase. That’s why, even though, there’s a slight upcharge, it more than pays for itself.”

SOCIAL MEDIA IS TALKING UP THE BOX

Social media has also exploded. Now people are going online to video themselves opening a box. When it’s an Accurate Box, this can “wow” your customer and increase brand exposure. Consumers appreciate the sustainable aspect as well.
